Update: November 30, 2010

A committee has been formed to explore undergraduate degrees in health sciences. They are planning market analysis for the new program and researching other universities for similar programs. They are also reviewing criteria for hiring of the joint Limited Term faculty member for Nursing and Science - to be appointed for July 1, 2011. The position is to be advertised as soon as possible. It is anticipated that the search process will be well underway for the hiring of the Limited Term Position and the PDC approval process will be started for implementing the new Health Science degree. The resources will be used to hire the Limited Term faculty member, who is expected to be appointed by July 1, 2011.

Update: April 30, 2011

The position was advertised and the closing date for applications was May 23rd 2011. The interview committee is comprised of representatives from both Science and Nursing. The Committee has conducted an informal market analysis of competitive programs in Health Sciences / Life Sciences in the Province. The curriculum has been mapped for the degree and a preliminary analysis of Faculty resources required to provide the new program has been discussed. Consultation occurred with programs that students may choose to apply to for professional programs after completing the degree - i.e., Wayne State Pharmacy. A more formal market analysis will be done after the hiring of the LT faculty person in preparation for the program approval process through Senate. The project is on schedule to hire the LT faculty person jointly between Science and Nursing for July 1, 2011.
