$80,000 a year for two years

This appointment will enhance the academic and social opportunities for FASS students, and engage the UW community in partnerships, by providing these students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in practicum placements in the community.
(Dr. Lori Buchanan)

Update: November 30, 2010

To date, the FCC-approved (Faculty Coordinating Council) hiring committee has been established and the job description of the Coordinator is to be discussed and approved at the first meeting. The plan is to have the 1st and 2nd year two credit courses planned, and the first implemented. They also expect to have an initial list of community partners and a system to evaluate student participation in placement activities. The expectation is to spend the $80,000 based on when the director is hired. The only issue is the expectation of having a September 2011 start date.

Update: April 30, 2011

The hiring process for the Coordinator has been completed and Justin Langlois will start the new LTA position on July 1, 2011. The Coordinator will begin revamping the “Ways of Knowing” course and will begin to develop the “Ways of Doing” course. Ways of Knowing will be offered in September and in January and Ways of Doing will be offered for the first time in September 2012.
