Anatomy of an Educator

This course introduces learners to core principles of successful teaching in online, open, hybrid, and technology-enhanced learning environments. It explores notions of teaching in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world, and ways in which educators and learners navigate these challenges. Using Simon Bates’ (2014) concept of the anatomy of a 21st Century educator, and Tony Bates’ (2015) Teaching in a digital age as the foundation, this course will introduce learners to the many roles they will play in modern higher education teaching, and provide a practical base from which to develop as successful online teachers.
