Online Collaboration - Instructors and Students

Service Description

CLEW stands for Collaboration and Learning Environment Windsor, the name of the University of Windsor's learning management system adopted in Fall 2007. CLEW is based on the Sakai platform. The University of Windsor has customized Sakai to our own needs and called it CLEW, Collaboration and Learning Environment Windsor.

CLEW is used to support teaching and learning in distance education courses, face-to-face courses, and courses that are a blend of the two. Here’s just some of the many ways CLEW is used to enhance student-instructor interaction and support teaching and learning:

  • post lecture notes or PowerPoint presentations on-line
  • make class announcements
  • guide learning through on-line lessons
  • facilitate group work in discussion forums
  • accept assignments on-line and provide confidential feedback
  • post secure confidential grades
CLEW is designed to also support research and collaboration efforts. CLEW may be used to facilitate ad hoc collaboration, to administer a study, to collaborate on a grant, or to run a study group between individuals within one or several institutions.
