Other Scholarships

 

Faculty of Graduate Studies & Office of Quality Assurance 
 
Each program is invited to nominate one (1) student for each of the awards listed on this page, except for the A.R.  &  E.G. Ferriss awards, for which departments may nominate up to three (3) eligible  students.  
 
DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF NOMINATIONS IN THE OFFICE OF GRADUATE STUDIES:  MARCH 7, 2012 
  
The nominations should be submitted by the graduate coordinator or department head, and should include the following documentation: 
 
1. Copy of the student’s University of Windsor transcript (from the web) 
2. Outline of the student's research (or proposed research) written by the student 
3. List of the student's awards and publications (if applicable) 
4. Letter of recommendation from the student's supervisor 
 
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS (open to all disciplines, except where indicated) 
 
Dr. Lois K. Smedick Graduate Awards (4-8 available) 
Awarded to a graduate student with a minimum average of 11.0 in any discipline. Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. Value: $500 to $1000. 
 
 Ian and Terry Scholarship (formerly the Ian David Berks Scholarship) (2 available) 
Awarded annually through the Faculty of Graduate Studies to a mature, married student with family or other responsibilities, on the basis of academic merit.  
The recipient may be enrolled in any graduate program in the natural or applied sciences at the University of Windsor, and must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.  
Value $1,000. 
 
Canadian Federation of University Women (Windsor Club) Award (1 available) 
Awarded annually to a female graduate student whose research area concerns issues related to women.  Available to a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Value: $2,500.  
 
Charles Clark Graduate Award (3 available) 
Awarded to a graduate student with a minimum average of 10.5 in any discipline. Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. Value:  $1,000. 
  
3M Canada Company Bursary Awards (2 available) 
Awarded to graduate students entering their first year of graduate studies and who have maintained grades establishing them in the top quartile of their program. Must demonstrate financial need. 
Note:  this award is available to international students as well as Canadian and Permanent Residents 
Value: $1,000. 
 
Dr. Ross H. Paul Scholarships (8 available) 
Awarded to a graduate student with a minimum average of 11.0 in any discipline. Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. Value: $1,000. 
 
James Molnar Graduate Scholarship (3 available) 
Awarded to a graduate student with a minimum average of 11.0 in any discipline. Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. Value: $500. 
 
A. R. and E.G. Ferriss Awards (32 available) 
Awarded to a graduate student with a minimum average of 11.0 in any discipline. Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. Value: $1,000.

Verdecchia Family Graduate Scholarships in Health Sciences (7 available) 
Awarded to Master’s or PhD students engaged in study in the health sciences.   
Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. 
Value: $1,000. 
 
Brian & Wilma Hannon Graduate Scholarship (1 available) 
Awarded to Master’s or PhD students engaged in study in the health sciences.   
Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. 
Value: $800. 
 
CANCER RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS 
 
Windsor Prostate Cancer Scholarships (6 available) 
Awarded to Master’s or PhD students engaged in research related to prostate cancer in any discipline.   
Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. 
Value:  $1,000. 
 
Casino Windsor Cares/Gail Rosenblum Memorial Breast Cancer Research Scholarships (4 available) 
Awarded to Master’s or PhD students engaged in study in breast cancer research in any discipline.   
Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. 
Value:  $5,000. 
 
Gloria & Carl Morgan Graduate Scholarship in Breast Cancer Research (1 available) 
Awarded to Master’s or PhD students engaged in study in breast cancer research in any discipline.   
Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. 
Value: $1,000. 
 
Elena Loaring Memorial Fund for Breast Cancer Research (6 awards available) 
Awarded to Master’s or PhD students engaged in medical-related breast cancer research in Nursing or Science.   
Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and show financial need. 
Value:  $1,000.
