  • A study in the great stories of the human past—rulers, constitutions, wars and liberation movements, as well as capitalism, migration, slavery, cities and the everyday lives of women and men
  • Includes topics in European, Latin American, Canadian, African, Middle Eastern and US history from medieval times to the recent past
  • Emphasizes writing, the study of primary historical documents and an understanding of how the writing of history has changed over time
