French Studies

  • French as a second language is the second-most frequently taught second language in the world after English, and the only language other than English spoken on five continents
  • Offers a comprehensive program of study in language, literature, linguistics, English-French translation and culture of the French-speaking world
  • All courses are taught in French
  • Includes the option to spend third year studying in France. You may also spend one or two semesters studying at the Université du Québec à Montréal

Mean Admissions Average:

Requirements: 
  • ENG4U required
  • French majors require any Grade 12 U French
  • Students may choose to double major in any BA Honours program

  • Teaching French as a first or second language (with additional studies)
  • Translation and interpretation
  • Federal and provincial civil services
  • Law (with additional studies)
  • Business and industry
