The Assistant to the Dean provides the Dean with comprehensive management as it relates to matters related to: financial/budget oversight, human resources management, the Faculty of Nursing’s program management and reporting, space management/renovations, and other business-related operations for the Faculty of Nursing. 


The successful candidate will possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting or relevant degree combined with equivalent work experience;

• 3 to 5 years of management or professional experience in Finance and/or Human Resources

• Experience with financial reports and business planning;

• Excellent quantitative, analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills

• Excellent consensus building, consultative decision-making and conflict resolution skills

• Strong time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills;

• Previous experience in a supervisory capacity within a unionized environment;

• Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills;

• Prior experience with financial and administrative strategic planning in an educational or business environment;

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; and exercise initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy and discretion;

• Ability to cope with a heavy workload, maintain professionalism and make decisions, even in stressful situations

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and work within institutional policies and procedures

• Demonstrated experience with spreadsheet, database and enterprise financial applications or systems

• Demonstrated high level of proficiency with computer technology, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Office 365, and ability and willingness to learn new software and systems


• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field

• Experience working in a post-secondary environment

• Extensive knowledge of the academic and administrative structure and procedures of the University of Windsor
