Lancer Recreation Assistant Fitness and Sport Conditioning Coordinator "VI" in the Department of Lancer Recreation/Athletics and Recreational Services

The Lancer Recreation Assistant Fitness and Sport Conditioning Coordinator will provide expertise and leadership for programs/services offered at the St. Denis Centre by the delivery, planning, oversight and evaluation of the Lancer Recreation instructional group fitness classes, personal training and related fitness and sport conditioning activities. The Coordinator supports these activities for all of the categories of participants and user groups that access these services.


The successful candidate will have:

• Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Business/Sport Management or College Diploma in the area of Recreation, Business/Sport Management or equivalent as determined by the department

• Certification in Fitness Instruction, Personal Training and Strength and Conditioning

• Three (3) years’ experience in the fitness management industry (campus/community and/or private)

• Knowledge of personal training, group fitness programs and sport conditioning (i.e. safety regulations, facility requirements, equipment needs, staff training)

• Experience in overseeing the work of others

• CPR /AED and First Aid Certified

• Experience in Special Event Coordination (e.g. health fairs, health promotion, community outreach)

• Experience in marketing and sponsorship

• Knowledge of budget preparation (e.g. budget prep, tracking of registration fee, deposit and expenses)

• Experience in Fitness and Conditioning Equipment Asset Management – maintenance of equipment inventories, preventative maintenance, replacement and renewal, as well as facility maintenance and coordination of repair, renewal and development

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

• Ability to work a flexible schedule


• Concussion Awareness Training Certified

• Experience in ActiveNetwork and Drupal

Rate of pay:
Classification "VI" per Schedule A of the Collective Agreement
