Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Advisor Classification "VII" in the Faculty of Engineering - Office of the Dean

The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor will act as an advocate, spokesperson, and a champion to provide support and promote a culture that values and supports equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout the Faculty of Engineering. The incumbent will act as an advocate for the equity, diversity and inclusion of all Faculty of Engineering students and supports their success, retention and well-being.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have:

• A graduate degree in a related discipline, or equivalent post-secondary education combined with professional experience, as determined by the department.

• Minimum of 3 years related experience advising and/or supporting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the post-secondary level

• Experience in designing and delivering educational programs.

• Awareness of and sensitivity to diversity and cross-cultural differences and ability to deliver services and support towards individuals whose first language is not English

• Ability to masterfully gather and analyze information

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Excellent consensus building, consultative decision-making, conflict resolution skills

• Excellent communication (both oral and written), especially as it relates to academic relations

• Experience delivering presentations to both small and large audiences

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise initiative, discretionary judgment, and act with tact and diplomacy

• Demonstrated ability to be well versed in institutional policies and procedures within a post-secondary environment.

• Advanced knowledge of and ability to use spreadsheets, databases, and enterprise financial applications and/or systems

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively, independently and within a team environment


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate degree in engineering

• Demonstrated ability to fundraise


Rate of pay:
Classification "VII" per Schedule A of the Collective Agreement
