Financial Accounting Administrator in the Department of Financial Accounting and Reporting (Temporary for approximately one year)

The Financial Accounting Administrator is responsible for the successful accounting, reporting and management of the Financial Accounting and Reporting area of the University of Windsor. The Administrator will track, manage and meet deadlines for financial reporting required by the University’s external funding requirements including Capital Projects, Trusts and Research Grants and review and approve all new grants opened or closed by the research finance staff. The incumbent will be responsible for taxation compliance while managing a team and their activities.


The successful candidate will possess:

• University degree in a related field

• Recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA) or significant experience (5 to 10 years) in accounting in the public sector

• 5 years of experience working in accounting; 2 to 5 years in a managerial role

• A thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting standards

• An understanding of research principles, including accounting for contracts and deferred contributions

• Proven ability to define and solve problems requiring qualitative and quantitative analysis

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to manage teams

• Multitasking and organizational skills, as well as a keen attention to detail and accuracy

• Demonstrated initiative and commitment to process improvement

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and financial management applications


• Experience in the University, government or not for profit sector, or experience at a research intensive organization
