The FAHSS Onsite Consultant contributes to the effectiveness of the academic units and administrative departments by providing technical support for desktop computing for faculty and staff in FAHSS. The OnSite Consultant will provide technical support for desktop computing consultation and setup, resolve network, client and software installation, PC operating system, desktop security and printing problems in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science 


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have:

• Three-year College Diploma in Computer Systems Technology – Networking or equivalent

• 3 years’ experience in desktop support

• Advanced knowledge Microsoft Windows Operating Systems; computer hardware, software, repair, replacement, and peripherals; and desktop troubleshooting

• Working knowledge of Windows registry; Microsoft networking; Apple operating systems; Lotus Notes client support; and MS Office

• Detailed knowledge of desktop virtualization technology (i.e. VMware); desktop security; virus/malware prevention and removal; Windows Mobile, Apple, and Android devices

• Experience with updating, maintaining and designing webpages

• Strong interpersonal; verbal & written communication; presentation; and customer service skills

• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills

• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

• Ability to work independently or in a team setting. 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of Novell LANs (file and print sharing) and Linux

• Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP network (computer to switch) and 802.11 technology


Rate of pay:
Tentative Classification “IV” per Schedule A of the collective agreement
