Engineering Technologist Tentative Classification "V" in the Faculty of Engineering

The Technologist will provide technical and laboratory support and will design, estimate, and fabricate equipment and instrumentation for use in the Faculty of Engineering. The incumbent will ensure the continued operation of the labs and equipment in support of teaching and research.


The successful candidate will have:

• Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Trades (or equivalent organization, such as Red Seal) as a Tool and Die Maker, Mould Maker or Tool/Tooling Maker.

• 3 years related work experience as a journeyman, including:

o Significant experience in tool and die, tool making or mould making

o Experience with fabrication using a broad range of materials (metals, alloys, plastics, etc.)

o Experience operating machine tools, CNC, Welders, PLC, Robotics etc.

• Comprehensive knowledge and sound judgment in drafting, CAD Design, GD&T, CNC cutting software and workshop practice.

• Knowledge of health and safety policies, procedures and practices

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both as a team member and independently

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Good multi-tasking and organizational skills with good problem solving skills

Rate of pay:
Tentative Classification ā€œVā€ per Schedule A of the collective agreement
