Peter G.C. Townley, Head

Cartoon character

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Peter Townley, Head, Department of Economics on Friday August 3, 2012.  Dr. Townley came to the University of Windsor in 2006.  Peter spent much of his career at Acadia University.  He held visiting positions at Queen's University, the Institute for Policy Analysis at the University of Toronto and the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research. He held the T.D. MacDonald Chair in Industrial Economics at Industry Canada (2001-2003).

Peter provided valuable leadership during an important phase of the Department's development. His informed guidance and encouragement will be missed.

A family service was held in Mississauga, Ontario.  A campus memorial service was held on November 19th.

A tree will be planted in memory of Peter in the Spring of 2013.  Please join your colleagues honoring Peter by making a tax deductible donation toward the planting of a commemorative Gingko tree.
