Scholarships and Awards

Available Funding for PhD Students

Typically Doctoral students are supported financially by the department in the form of Graduate Assistantships.   The School of Computer Science will offer you a minimum of seven (7) Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GAship) after enrolment into the program.  A GAship is valued at approximately $5969.60 for each term that you are employed. GAships are subject to availability of funds and are allocated on the basis of student qualifications and academic performance. Also, Doctoral students receive a Research Assistantship (RAship) of a minimum of $4,000 per year provided by their Supervisor.  During this time students are required to perform duties as assigned by their Supervisor. Any RAship for later years of study will be dependent upon the student's performance and availability of funds. An RAship is usually provided when a student starts their research work, leading to their thesis.

Students may be considered for the Entrance Scholarship and the Departmental Scholarship at the time of application.

We also encourage students to apply for scholarships such as: NSERC & SSHRC to name a few.  Additional information about funding can be found at: http://www1.uwindsor.ca/graduate/scholarships-and-awards
