The School of Computer Science is very pleased to introduce Dr. Mehdi Kargar as one of our newest tenure-track faculty members.  Dr. Kargar received his Doctoral degree from York University and is primarily interested in big data, databases, data mining and machine learning.

In his spare time, Dr. Kargar enjoys outdoor activities very much, like hiking, biking, camping, beach volleyball and long boarding. During the winter, he prefers to stick to the indoor gym!  He states, “One of my main goals as an assistant professor is to see my students be successful in their career and enjoy doing research as much as I do.”

Dr. Kargar recently held a MITACS Elevate Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with Lassonde School of Engineering York University and Dapasoft Inc. where he worked on building systems for keyword search over structured big data.

Please helps us give Dr. Mehdi Kargar a warm welcome to the School of Computer Science.
