NSERC UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH AWARDS (USRA) 2016-2017

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY  APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR 2016-17

Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Deadline is Thursday, January 5, 2017.

You need to have a supervisor and they need to complete Form 202 Part 11.

A printed copy of the application (Form 202 Part 1), Department Ranking form (attached) and the official transcript, should be given to Marlene Bezaire, room #273-1 Essex Hall by January 5, 2017.

All applications must be completed and verified on-line.  A paper copy is then printed off and submitted to the department.

1.  Instructions for students:

Complete Form 202 Part I (Student Application for a USRA): Students can only create one Part 1 of Form 202. If they applied last year, they must update that form for use this year.  Students must also fill out the department NSERC USRA form, which can be downloaded by clicking here.

  • Register or log onto the NSERC on-line system and select Form 202 Part I under the heading For Students and Fellows
  • Complete all the modules shown on the left hand side of the screen, and then verify the form on the My Portfolio screen until the report shows it is complete
  • Forward the reference number provided by the system to potential supervisor(s)
  • Upload PDF copies of all official transcripts
  • Submit the original copies of the transcripts to the department

2.  Instructions for supervisors

Complete Part II of Form 202

  • Log onto the on-line site with the same password and username used to apply for an NSERC grant
  • If the password has been forgotten, supervisors can contact NSERC's On-line Services Helpdesk
  • Select Form 202 Part II under the heading Forms-Researcher
  • Enter the reference number for each student with whom they wish to work, and complete all the modules necessary to create a Part II for each student
  • Verify each form using the button on the My Portfolio screen until report states it is complete
  • Push the Submit to LO button to complete the application
  • If the supervisor does not verify the application, the “Submit to LO” button does not appear
  • Print off a copy of the application (Parts I and II) and submit it to the departmental secretary

3. Instructions for departments

  • Receive a paper copy of the application (Parts I and II) and the official transcripts for each student
  • Rank the applications and forward them to Graduate Studies by the deadline of February 28, 2017
