Our Mission: The Campus Community Garden Project (CCGP) is dedicated to building healthy, interactive urban communities through the collective production of locally grown, organic food. Drawing on the varied expertise at the University and within the local community, this garden emphasizes education and sustainability.
We believe in promoting positive interaction between the campus and the local community. We support and encourage community building and beautification, garden-based education and urban agriculture as a means to improve food security in Windsor while fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
In addition to producing organic food, the garden increases biodiversity and sustainability by retaining valuable rain water, for instance. Our vegetables and native plants provide habitat and food for beneficial organisms such as butterflies and birds. We contribute to the community by supplying food for people in need as well as engaging, educating, and empowering people to grow their own food.
