The Accounting discipline is designed to prepare you for a career in either public or private accounting. With a strong mix of theoretical and practical concepts, you will be provided with the maximum possible exemptions for the educational requirements to attain certification from the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA), Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA), and the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario (CMA).
Should you pursue a discipline in Accounting, you are not bound to practice accounting in their careers or even pursue a designation of CA, CGA or CMA. Many students go on to work in governmental organizations, not-for-profit agencies, and many other business sectors and industries
Individuals considering a mid-career change into the accounting field might consider our Post Graduate Certificate in Accounting program which is specifically designed to enable students with previous university degrees to complete the requirements necessary to take the ICAO uniform evaluation (UFE) exam.
Possible careers in public accounting include: Auditing, Management Advisory Services, and Tax Services.
Possible careers in private accounting include: General Accountant, Cost Accountant, Budgeting, and Internal Auditor.
