Why study at Windsor ?
Biological science majors acquire the tools and skills necessary to successfully compete for positions in industry, government, education or any one of several professional programs including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, physical therapy - just to name a few.
Unlike many other universities, biology undergraduate students at Windsor are given the opportunity to gain practical hands-on laboratory and field experience beginning in the first year of study.
The small class size of most biology courses, breadth of courses offered, and close contact between students and professors means learning at U Windsor is a rewarding and stimulating experience.
Through faculty counselling students are able to design their academic program to acquire expertise in three broad areas of study:
Cellular and Molecular Biology
Ecology, Evolution, Environment, and Behavior (EEEB)
Behaviour, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN)
Within these broad areas of biology students have the flexibility to design interdisciplinary programs, or to specialize in areas such as biotechnology, neuroscience, or environmental biology. Students also have the flexibility to design programs which meet the admission requirements of many professional programs. Students at U Windsor can also opt for a course of study leading to an Honours Thesis project in their fourth year. Students in this stream are routinely sought after by other universities to fill positions in graduate programs leading to the M.Sc. and/or Ph.D. degrees. They also meet the academic qualifications for admission to the M.Sc./Ph.D. Program in the Biological Sciences at the University of Windsor.
